Poland

In 2022 I had the fantastic chance to visit Poland, my journey began in Warszawa, a capital filled with history and culture. Roaming the streets and visiting the Zoo was the first things on the journey.

Two days later it began with a six and a half hour train journey from Warszawa to Poronin, a village that lies approximately 7km from Zakopane. The journey now began it’s next leg, the Tatra Mountains, I’d never seen a mountain in person only through pictures or on TV, it was time to become one with the mountains. I was an interloper amongst these sleeping giants.

Nosal was the first mountain I climbed, 1206m in elevation. The view from Nosal was something I’d never seen before, it woke something up inside of me, a love for this mountains.

My next challenge was Giewont, the sleeping knight. 1894m in elevation, with views that took my breath away just like the climb, seeing Zakopane from this height was a pleasure, a natural vista.

The next day, it was onto Morskie Oko that is 1395m in elevation and then continuing the hike up to Czarny Stav pod Rysami at 1586m. The black lake below Rysy, the tallest mountain in Poland was in view but that is now for my next journey to Poland in 2024 where I will conquer that mountain, up high at 2501m with views into Slovakia, with Czarny Stav and Morskie Oko below.
